Barb Shue has been in the medical field for over 20 years. Her love for medicine began at a young age and even when there were obstacles she found a way to overcome them. Barb began her career in the medical field as a surgical secretary and she soon found there was not enough hands on contact with the patients and went on to become a CNA and went into Home Health, here she was able to help patients and really make a difference in their lives . However, she soon wanted to do more again so she went back to school and became a LPN, she began working in doctors offices and honed skills such as phlebotomy, injections, vital signs, triage, minor procedure assistance, front and back office procedures and much more. Home Health and Barb's ability to really make a difference in the outcome of patients care began pulling at her so she returned to the field again working in homes caring for people where she believes they heal, recover and thrive the best.
Barb began working for a home care agency working part-time in the office and part time in the field, building up her case load until full-time. As she learned more in the office they utilized her more and more until she was more in the office and less in the filed. One day Barb found herself at a crossroads at a time when a family member was in desperate need of assistance. There was no question she was going to help! As the crisis passed Barb began looking for her next adventure and again looked to her passion Home Health where she spent the next eleven and a half years helping to build a company's trifecta of business's - Home Health, Staffing and Home Care. Through the years there were other members of her family stricken with illness and again there was no question she was there to help. What you learn from first hand experiences is more valuable than any fancy Ivy League education.
Barb believes in making sure every person is treated with respect, ensuring dignity and promoting independence are foremost in everyone's mind at all times. Having cared for several loved ones as they aged and then passed on she is aware of what families are dealing with and how difficult decisions can be but having and advocate to fight for you, someone to listen to you and yes even someone to do the work for you, can be worth more than the most priceless piece of china in the cabinet.
